Frequently Asked Questions
Garden of Witness – A Digital Grove of Solidarity with Palestine
What is Garden of Witness?
The Garden of Witness is a global digital olive grove where individuals from all corners of the world can plant a virtual olive tree and leave a personal message of hope, solidarity, and support for the Palestinian people. This peaceful and powerful act serves as a visual testament that the world is not only watching, but caring.
Participation is free, and every tree planted is a symbol of collective conscience. When we unite our voices, our actions can create a profound impact, sending a clear message that we stand together for justice, peace, and human dignity.
How can planting a virtual tree help in a situation like this?
How Planting Virtual Olive Trees Can Change the Story
At first glance, planting a virtual olive tree may seem like a small, symbolic act.
But when you look deeper, you see that this garden, our garden, has the power to change hearts, conversations, and even history itself.
Here’s how:
1. It Creates a Living Testament of Global Conscience
Every olive tree planted carries a name, a message, a location, a human being standing up and saying:
“I see. I care. I will not turn away.”
As the numbers grow, the Garden of Witness becomes a living testament to the world’s conscience.
It shows the Palestinian people, and the global community, that they are not forgotten, not invisible, not alone.
And in a world where silence too often enables suffering, bearing witness is a radical act.
2. It Gathers Visible Momentum
The first hundred trees are a whisper.
The first thousand are a murmur.
The first hundred thousand are a roar.
As more trees are planted, the garden becomes impossible to ignore:
Journalists start writing about it.
Influencers begin sharing it.
Leaders and decision-makers take notice.
The visual impact—thousands upon thousands of trees, each tied to a human heart, is a powerful counterpoint to the cold, detached language of politics and media.
It humanises a story that is often reduced to numbers and headlines.
3. It Sparks Conversations and Awareness
When someone plants a tree, they often share it.
When they share it, others ask: “What is this about?”
And a conversation begins.
Awareness spreads one friend, one family member, one follower at a time.
Each tree is a conversation starter. Each conversation is a seed of change.
And the more seeds we plant, the more minds and hearts we open.
4. It Builds a Community of Care
Alone, we can care.
But together, we can create profound and beautiful change.
The Garden of Witness weaves together strangers from every continent into a living, breathing network of compassion:
Teachers from Ireland planting beside artists in Egypt
Students in Tokyo standing with farmers in Palestine
Children in Canada leaving messages of hope beside elders in South Africa
A shared action, a shared purpose, across boundaries that once seemed impossible.
It is a visible reminder that humanity is capable of unity—even in a fractured world.
5. It Leads to Real-World Action
As the grove grows:
Donations to humanitarian aid increase
Media visibility strengthens
Political pressure mounts
Reforestation projects benefit (through real tree planting add-ons)
Educational campaigns emerge from the community itself
Injustice thrives when it is hidden, when it is normalised, when it is too big to comprehend.
The Garden of Witness breaks the story into something human, something actionable, something real.
Why It Matters So Much Right Now
Because if nothing changes, nothing changes.
Because if we stay silent, injustice deepens its roots.
Because if we feel powerless and do nothing, suffering continues unseen.
But when enough people care, when enough people act, change becomes inevitable.
It starts with one tree.
One message.
One heart.
But together, it becomes a forest.
Alone, we are useful.
Together, we are unstoppable.
Your tree matters.
Your voice matters.
Our grove matters.
Because every time you plant, you are helping to write a different ending to the story—one rooted in hope, solidarity, and the belief that even the smallest act of love can shake the world.
Plant your tree today. Help hope take root.

Why the olive tree?
In Palestine, the olive tree is a powerful symbol of life, heritage, and resilience. Many ancient olive trees have been destroyed in the conflict. By planting a virtual tree, we honour those trees and the people who live among them.
Can I leave my name or be anonymous?
Yes. You can plant a tree with your name or anonymously. It’s up to you. You can also include your country to help show the global nature of this grove.
Can I plant more than one tree?
Can I share my tree on social media?
Yes! After planting, you’ll be given a link to share your message and tree across social platforms. Each share helps spread awareness and inspires others to take part.
Is this political?
This project is not aligned with any political party or government. It is a humanitarian and moral response to ongoing suffering. We believe in the power of peaceful action, remembrance, and solidarity.
How is my data used?
We only store your name (if provided), message, and location (if shared) to display your tree on the grove. We do not share, sell, or use your data for any other purpose. We will occasionally use your email to send you updates on our progress.
How can I help beyond planting a tree?
